A series of massive collaborative paintings created by two brothers, while living 5000 kilometres apart from each other. Their process is one of sending paintings back and forth between Toronto and Vancouver over the course of one year. The resulting works are hybrid images that exist in multiple geographical areas simultaneously.
About the Artists
Cody and Connor Smith are Visual Artists currently based out of Vancouver and Toronto Canada. Connor is in his fourth year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at OCAD University and Cody received his BFA from the same institution in 2010.
Both brothers are from St. Catharines ON Canada; in the heart of the Niagara Region. Growing up in the most populated area of Canada, surrounded by the Great Lakes, and geographically almost as low in latitude as Northern California, the brothers feel that this gave them a unique sense of PLACE which they have embraced in their individual practices today.
SPACE and Untitled Art Space have collaborated to bring you a show mimicking the two locations from which this art was created. Over the course of the past year, SPACE and Untitled have been working together to find ways to collaborate that will dually support each others own vision and goals, while creating an exciting experience for attendees of the show. This show utilizes the capacity at SPACE to host large bodies of work, and Untitled's key location in the heart of Chinatown.
The full collection will be on display at SPACE (552 Clark Drive) until October 31, 2016. For booking an appointment please contact Cody at email@example.com or 604-329-9638
